PhD Positions For Physics In University of Luxembourg

1. PhD student in Physics (halide organic/inorganic perovskites, surface science)

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

Your Role

The successful PhD candidate will work in the field of halide organic/inorganic perovskites. This material class is of extreme importance for the development of highly efficient and cheap single and multi-junction solar cells. The project consists of synthesizing low dimensional perovskites via multistage evaporation and to study these materials on the atomic scale with scanning probe microscopy methods, such as scanning tunneling spectroscopy and Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy. The work will be carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alex Redinger.

What we expect from you

  • Master in Physics (or equivalent) with very good grades
  • Very good knowledge in solid state physics, semiconductors, solar cells and surface science is expected
  • Candidates should have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in English are expected
  • Creative and able to think independently

In Short

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract 36 Months (extendable up to 48 months if required)
