Phd Position in Germany
1. PhD Student or Postdoc Position (m/f/d) | X-ray Spectroscopy
Job Offer from July 25, 2022
The
Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI CEC) in Mülheim an der
Ruhr studies fundamental chemical processes for energy storage in chemical
molecules. The department of “Inorganic Spectroscopy” is presently looking for
a candidate for a PhD
student or Postdoc position (m/f/d) in X-ray spectroscopy.
The
position is available immediately. The doctoral researcher will work on a
3-year-doctoral-program and the postdoctoral position is initially for 24
months, with the possibility of an additional one-year renewal.
Your task in PhD
The
appointed researcher will utilize a wide range of advanced X-ray spectroscopic
approaches, coupled to in-house spectroscopy and theory, to understand reactive
intermediates in (bio)inorganic catalysis. The MPI CEC provides a unique
environment, which brings together state-of-the-art experimental approaches
with theory to understand challenging question in energy research. This
position thus provides the possibility to conduct pioneering research at the
interface of theory and experiment.
Your qualifications for PhD
For
the PhD position, we require the Master's degree certificate and for the
postdoctoral position, we also require the PhD degree in inorganic/physical
chemistry or a related discipline. The candidate should have a strong
background in inorganic chemistry, a solid understanding of spectroscopy, and a
sound foundation in basic concepts of molecular orbital and ligand field
theory.
Our offer
We
offer an international, dynamic working environment in a renowned research
institute, family-friendly jobs and flexible working hours. The PhD will be
remunerated according to the Max Planck Society´s funding guidelines for junior
scientists and the postdoctoral position according to TVöD (Bund) in line with
your qualifications and professional experience.

Your
detailed application should include a cover letter with description of past
experience, a curriculum vitae with the contact details of three referees and a
copy of your degree certificate. If we have aroused your interest then please
send your application preferably in digital form until 31st August 2022 stating the reference code “SD015” to:
