The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

Position Role:

The PhD student will be a member of the Department of Physics and Materials Science within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of Luxembourg. She or he will perform research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Siebentritt.

Activities

  • Preparation by co-evaporation of chalcopyrite films and solar cells
  • Photoluminescence and solar cell characterisation
  • Data analysis and modelling
  • Publications in international journals and conferences
  • Thesis writing

What we expect from you…

  • Master in Physics (or equivalent) with very good grades
  • Good background in solid state physics, preferably in solar cells, semiconductors
  • Self-motivated, committed and curious
  • Creative and able to think independently
  • Excellent command of English
